I’m Peter Shaw, the proud owner of PDS Builders Ltd, and my journey into the world of building began in the small town of Taupiri, just outside Hamilton. Growing up as a third-generation student at Taupiri Primary, I discovered my passion for working with wood during manual classes. That spark ignited a lifelong love for creating and building, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a builder.
After completing my education at Hamilton Boys High School, I pursued a pre-trade carpentry course at Waikato Polytechnic, which led me to secure an apprenticeship with SB Joynes Builders. Under the guidance of my mentor, I honed my skills on a variety of projects, from renovations to high-end architectural homes. My journey took me to London, where I worked on a prestigious renovation for the Geddes Family, learning the importance of perfection and attention to detail.
In 2003, I returned to New Zealand, eager to start my own business and bring my vision to life. Thus, PDS Builders Ltd was born. Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of completing numerous renovations and new home builds across Hamilton and the Waikato, always striving for the highest quality of workmanship. I take immense pride in our quality control processes and the relationships we build with our clients, ensuring transparency and open communication throughout every project.
Today, I’m not just a builder; I’m a husband to my partner Laura and a father to our two wonderful children, Connor and Sophie. When I’m not on site, you can find me fishing, spending time at the beach, or planning our next family adventure. I believe that every home we build is a testament to the dreams and aspirations of the families who will live in them, and I’m committed to making those dreams a reality.
